I said goodbye to my friend Revie on January 13, 2009. Although she had been so sick her last year, she still didn't want to give up on life. I had to take her on her last car ride to the veterinarian. They gave her a sedative so she could relax and I could say goodbye. She licked my hand as I talked to her. She had every reason in the world to want to stay. She felt needed, she felt loved. I had to tell her it was O.K. to go. She was in pain and she was tired. It was a relief for both of us when the end came. She could finally rest.
I miss my friend but I treasure every memory that came with her. Memories of her and memories of my family and friends that I love so dearly; they mix together and fill my heart. I am a better person to have had such a special companion in my life.
